There is more summer to look forward to! The hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty, based on Jenny Han's book trilogy, has been renewed for a third season.
“We’ve been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty, making Summer Fridays an entertainment phenomenon,” Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, said in a press release. “This charming, deeply heartfelt series has shown the breadth of our customer base, appealing to a young, diverse set of viewers. Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story."
Season 3 was announced two weeks before the show's Season 2 finale. According to Prime Video, the second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which premiered in July of 2023, is "one of the 10 most watched seasons of any series ever" on the streaming service, with Season 2 more than doubling the first season's "viewership within three days" of its launch.

Although the official cast has not been revealed, it's safe to assume that Lola Tung, Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno will reprise their roles as Belly and the Fisher brothers in Season 3. The season 2 cast included:

Who will not return for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?
Kyra Sedgwick as Aunt Julia
Kyra Sedgwick will not be back as Conrad and Jeremiah's Aunt Julia. Sedwick confirmed as much at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new movie Bad Shabbos. "I'm not in Season 3," she told PEOPLE. "No, no, no. Spoiler alert."
The actress's reveal begs the question of whether Elsie Fisher (see above) will return, since Fisher plays Sedgwick's onscreen child. Fisher's status has not been confirmed one way or the other.

What will happen in Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
Prime Video hasn't shared an official synopsis for the upcoming season, but there are three books in Han's The Summer I Turned Pretty book series.
The description for the third book, titled We'll Always Have Summer, reads: "Belly has only ever been in love with two boys, both with the last name Fisher. And after being with Jeremiah for the last two years, she’s almost positive he is her soul mate. Almost. While Conrad has not gotten over the mistake of letting Belly go, Jeremiah has always known that Belly is the girl for him. So when Belly and Jeremiah decide to make things forever, Conrad realizes that it’s now or never—tell Belly he loves her, or lose her for good. Belly will have to confront her feelings for Jeremiah and Conrad and face the inevitable: She will have to break one of their hearts."
